Floyd Thiessen was born during the depression on a wheat and cattle farm in west central Oklahoma. He is a second generation American, and a descendant of Russian Mennonite parentage. His parental grandparents were born in what is now south-eastern Ukraine, while his mother and her parents lived nearby. All migrated to Nebraska and Kansas respectively in the late 1800s.Floyd spent all of his childhood and youth years on a farm homesteaded by his grandfather before Oklahoma statehood. After spending time in the Army in Korea, he returned with an interest in electronics technology. As a result, he studied Electrical Engineering at Oklahoma State University and spent his entire career in that field in the Dallas, Texas area. After retirement he made numerous trips to Uganda, Africa teaching modern agriculture and improving rural power systems.In this book,Dirk Willhems rescuing his jail keeper.
